Backing up your device

From photos to phone numbers, our mobile devices carry a lot of important information. At CREDO Mobile, we understand how important it is to keep your info safe. To ensure your information is accessible in the event that you decide to to purchase a new device, or if you’ve simply misplaced it - we recommend that you take steps to backup your device. Backing up your iPhone

All Apple devices come equipped with the option to utilize the iCloud. iCloud provides up to 2 TB of storage and encrypted backups of your media. You’ll be able to store content located in your Apple apps such as photos, notes, calendar invitations and more.

Follow these steps to backup your iPhone:

     1. Ensure you are connected to Wi-Fi for the entire process.
     2. Go to Settings > Select your name, then tap iCloud.
     3. Tap iCloud Backup. If you’re using iOS 10.2 or earlier, tap Backup.
     4. Tap Back Up Now.

Once you have logged into and set up iCloud, you may continue to access it through your device, or through your computer at the iCloud website.

Backing up your Android 

In order to ensure all your information is backed up, there are a few different steps you want to take with your device. You’ll want to backup the Google Photo and Google Drive apps as these are where you store your files and photos. You can store them by using the Android Backup Service. Backup service makes it simple to restore not only your files, but your preferred settings on a new phone.

Follow these steps to activate Android Backup Service:

    1. Open Settings
    2. Select Backup & reset
    3. Tap Backup account and add your account if you don’t see it there already

Backing up the Google Photo app

If the Google Photo app is not pre-loaded on your phone, you can download it from the Google Play store. Be sure to set the app to automatic backup.

  1. Open the Photo app
  2. In the menu, choose Settings
  3. Choose Backup & Sync
  4. Toggle on Backup & Sync

Google Photos gives you unlimited free storage if you upload photos and videos with the High quality setting, which most people are happy with. If you choose Original quality, your storage space will be limited.

Backing up the Google Drive app

With the Google Drive app, you can store many kinds of files in the cloud, such as documents and sheets, so that you may access them from other devices. Like Google Photos, Google Docs probably came preloaded on your phone, and could be downloaded from the Google Play store if not.

To backup your mobile and manually upload folders and files with Google Drive, follow these steps:

     1. Open the Drive app
     2. Tap the + button
     3. Tap Upload
     4. Select the file(s) you want to back up

Backing up flip phones and basic phones

The backup processor feature phone devices can be unique for each device.  Information on how to back up your device can be found in the user guide.  Click here to find your user guide. 

To find back up information the the user guide:
1. Open your phone's user guide

2. Search the Table of Contents for back up instructions and scroll down to the page listed.
3. Use the find feature by pressing Ctrl F and typing a search query such as back up or transfer in the search field.

Note: Not all feature phone devices can back up their content.  Some older devices can only transfer content to a computer, and others cannot perform a back up or content transfer at all.
